Simple clothing for a rustic camp

At camp, things do get lost, damaged, dirty and/or borrowed. Old, comfy t-shirts, fleeces and shorts are quite the style at camp! You’re encouraged to borrow and buy used gear. Second-hand items in decent condition will usually be quite adequate. Should items be lost or damaged, it is much less painful if you haven’t made a big investment in new gear. We strongly discourage bringing anything of great monetary or sentimental value to camp!

Eden Village West is not responsible for the loss or damage to any valuables, including clothing, musical instruments, jewelry, sports equipment, etc.

While we strive to provide excellent laundry service, it is a commercial service so please try not to send expensive items or clothes that require delicate or special care.

Laundry is done once a week.

• The faster clothes dry, the better. Synthetic fabrics dry faster than cotton and are more insulating when wet.

• The average high summer temperature for our area is 90 degrees, and the average low is 55.

• Duffels are preferred over trunks, but if your camper packs in a trunk, be sure it is no more than 14.5” high, and will stay closed and locked for travel or shipping.

• Campers oftentimes wear long pants in the cool evenings or when out in the Forest for tick prevention.  Jeans and other heavy pants are rough in the hot summer!  We suggest light weight pants or hiking pants.

• Campers and Staff wear entirely all white outfits for Friday evening. If you want to get white pants and can’t find any, consider yoga or karate pants or scrubs.

Backpacks, water bottles, and hats are required every day and often get lost. Send your camper with extras and label all clearly. Use masking tape for hard to write on surfaces. Don’t send any hats or water bottles you wouldn’t mind not seeing again.

Items That Must be Left at Home

We reserve the right to confiscate the following items that are not allowed at camp:

• Electronics of any kind (except watches and digital cameras without internet capability). This includes cell phones, iPods, iPads, iAnythings, Digital Video Players or Recording Devices (including Flip or still-digital cameras that can record video, if we find them being used for video), video cameras, CD or DVD players, radios, Kindles, laptops, electronic games/toys, plug-in fans, hair dryers, walkie-talkies, two-way radios, hot pots.
